Peter serves as Development Partner at Chartwell Residential. In 2018, Peter teamed-up with Rob Schaedle and Ben Schaedle to build-out Chartwell’s residential investment platform. In that time, Peter has played an integral role in executing all of Chartwell’s residential projects, including the development of a 240-unit garden apartment community in Lebanon, TN with a total development cost of $40 million; the entitlement and closing of a mixed-use community in Spring Hill, TN with a total development cost of $350 million upon build-out; and the development of a 390-unit apartment community in the urban core of Nashville, TN with a total development cost of $105 million.
Prior to Chartwell Residential, Peter practiced law as a real estate and finance attorney at Bass, Berry & Sims PLC (“Bass Berry”) in Nashville, TN. At Bass Berry, Peter represented clients in a variety of real estate and financing transactions and worked on behalf of real estate investment trusts and private real estate developers on the acquisition, disposition, and financing of large-scale commercial real estate assets.
Prior to moving back to his hometown to practice law at Bass Berry, Peter practiced law at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP (“Fried Frank”) in Washington, D.C., and New York, N.Y. During his time at Fried Frank, Peter represented REITs, investment banks, private equity sponsors, hedge funds and other public and private companies on a broad range of financing transactions and other corporate matters.
Peter graduated with honors from the University of Georgia and obtained a law degree from the University of Tennessee’s College of Law. While practicing law at Fried Frank, Peter took courses at Georgetown University Law Center in furtherance of a Master of Laws degree in International Business and Economic Law. Peter is a member of the Urban Land Institute.
